Akinori Matsumoto's Exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan
中国は銀川当代美術館（MOCA銀川）にて現在進行中の個展制作風景をブログで公開します。
昨年2017秋のグループ展「Very Sustainable」2017.09.03 - 2018.01.14に招聘され、シリーズ「Made In China 006: Sound Scenes Yinchuan」で個展を開催します。今回の展示は、松本秋則の回顧展ともとれるこれまでの代表的な作品群を1室にまとめ、彼のサウンド・オブジェの世界観の広がりを深く味わうことができることになりました。
銀川現代美術館MOCA（Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan）のある銀川市(Yinchuan）は中国の北西、寧夏回族自治区にあり、郊外には黄河が流れ,灌漑水源により農作物も豊かで工業地域と今も寧夏回族自治区と内蒙古自治区の境界になっている万里の長城など多くの歴史的遺産に囲まれています。かつて西夏王国の首都として栄え、お隣甘粛省には井上靖の小説の舞台となった敦煌があるなど歴史的にもとても興味深い土地です。

コンセプト
Made in China
中国には5千年の歴史があり、広大な国土には様々な民族が暮らしている。
今回の展示では歴史的な産物と地域の風土を現在の中国のテクノロジーで表現しようと思った。中国では2,000年も前からシルクを纏い、紙に文字を書いていた、Made in Chinaの始まりだ。歴史的な交易品として絹と紙は欠かせない産物であり、これらを展示に取り入れることにした。
風土は西域の砂漠の自然風景を模して会場全体に砂を敷き詰め、入り口のシルクのノレンをくぐるとドーム状の空間にたどり着く。これは回族の人達のモスクをイメージした物であり、西域との交易が盛んだったことを物語る。ドームを右に進むと長い紙のトンネルが続いている。覗き窓から見える景色は荒涼とした砂漠で、このトンネルはシルクロードに例えた道であり、途中には栄枯盛衰を物語る遺跡の遺構が点在する。やがてたどり着いた場所は砂漠のオアシスである。ここは水に溢れ、旅人の疲れを癒す憩いの場所である。氷が溶けて水盤に落ちる様は天山山脈の氷河が溶けて砂漠のオアシスに注がれることをイメージした物である。
影絵の部屋は銀川付近の自然風景の断片を影絵を使って表現したものである。影絵や水の波紋の映像を表現すLEDライト、音響空間を表現するモーター、アダプター、タイマーは全てMade in Chinaで、現代中国のテクノロジーを使って広大な中国の歴史と風土の一断片を表現した展示を試みた。
今回の展示で美術館の職員の皆さん、設営チームの方、ボランティアの方々、毎日の食事を届けて頂いた方々、日本から応援の方々、銀川の方々、皆様のご協力でMade in Chinaを無事に開催するに至りました。心より感謝を致します。
“Made in China”
China has a long history of five thousand years, and there are many nationalities living and breeding on its vast territory.
In this exhibition, I would like to use the science and technology (products) of China nowadays to demonstrate its historical precipitation and local regions. Chinese people had begun to wear silk and write characters on paper since more than two thousand years ago, and this is the beginning of “Made in China”. As historic transactions, silk and paper are indispensable products, thus I introduced them into my exhibition. To simulate the natural landscape of the western desert, we have laid sand soil onto the whole venue, so the visitors will get into a domed architectural space after opening the silk curtain by the entrance. The space symbolizes the mosque of Hui people, which shows the flourishing cultural exchange the Han people of China used to have with the west. Moving over to the right side from the domed architecture, you will enter a paper tunnel extending forward. From the observation windows (flanking on either side of the tunnel), the bleak desert landscape can be seen. The tunnel symbolizes the Road of Silk, which scatters the remnants of ancient ruins along the way, as if they were telling of the vicissitudes of history. The place to be arrived after a long and arduous journey is the oasis of the desert, which has abundant water sources, and is a place to rest for the weary travelers. The sight of ice melting down into the water table symbolizes the glaciers of the Tianshan Mountains melting and then flowing into the desert oasis.
The image of the house is a silhouette of the natural landscape near Yinchuan, which is showed by using the light and shadow. The LED lights, the motor which represent the sound space, the adapter, the timer, etc. all I used to create the image of light / shadow and water ripple are “Made in China”. I tried to use the Chinese modern technology to show a part of its vast history and local customs.
By courtesy of the great support from every staff of YCAM, the installation team, every volunteer, the staff who prepared food for us every day, as well as the assistants from Japan and everybody at Yinchuan, the “Made in Chine” exhibition could go well with the opening.
